Microblading FAQs

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique taking the beauty world by storm! The perfect option for those with sparse or thinning brows, it creates hairlike strokes designed to fill in, colour, and shape to perfection. The end result is an effortless, natural looking full brow ― no need for constant brow-filling!

At Hair Ministry Group, our skilled microblading artists combine their years of experience and training with world-class tools and high-quality pigments to create natural-looking brows tailored to each of our client’s preferences and features.

To learn more about this service, visit our microblading page.

Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow enhancement technique. It’s one of the longest lasting and lowest maintenance brow treatments out there, with results typically visible for between 1 and 3 years. Factors impacting this lifespan include your skin type, and lifestyle/aftercare routine.

For example, those with oily skin often experience a microblading lifespan on more so towards the one year mark – as the natural oils in their skin break down the pigment used in microblading more quickly – whilst those with dry skin might see longer lasting results. Touch-up sessions are generally recommended every 12-18 months to refresh your brows’ colour and shape.

Microblading is a similar (albeit finer) process to tattooing, meaning that, of course, it can cause some discomfort. With this said, thanks to comfort options such as numbing cream, the process is generally manageable for most people. It’s often described as a light scratching sensation, much like a papercut.

At Hair Ministry, prior to treatment, your brow artist will apply a topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) to your brow area to minimise any discomfort. Remember, everyone’s pain threshold varies, so while some might find the procedure slightly uncomfortable, others barely feel a thing. It’s essential to discuss any concerns with your therapist beforehand, so they can ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible.

Microblading is more than just a simple brow service. It’s a bespoke art using custom blends and fine strokes which can take hours to put in place, meaning its upfront costs are much higher than those for, say, eyebrow waxing. Averages across the UK can vary in line with various factors like their location and the proficiency of the microblading artist, with price points falling at anywhere from £200 to £600.

At Hair Ministry, a full microblading treatment costs £300.00. We believe in ensuring perfect results; so provide a touch-up session for free if it’s within the first 8 weeks. For touch-ups beyond that period, the cost is £80.00 for up to 9 months and £165.00 for up to 18 months post initial appointment. A £100 deposit will be collected at the time of consultation should you want to go ahead with the treatment.

Remember that the results of microblading can last for between 1-3 years, saving you money on ongoing costs for brow shaping and tinting over time.

It’s crucial to prepare for your microblading appointment to ensure the best possible outcome. If any of the following circumstances apply to you, notify your microblading technician at Hair Ministry at 01473 716654 as soon as possible:

  • Have you had anti-wrinkle treatments (Botox) in the last 3 weeks?
  • Have you had a brow/face lift in the past 3 months?
  • Have you undergone a chemical peel in the past month?
  • Have you had any brow tinting or waxing in the past month?
  • Are you currently taking any blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, alcohol, or Coumadin?
  • Have you received chemotherapy or radiation in the past 12 months?
  • Are you currently on any medication?
  • Are you currently pregnant or breastfeeding?
  • Have you consumed or undergone any of the following in the past 48 hours: Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, Alcohol, Coffee, Sunbeds?

By sharing these details, you’ll help your technician make appropriate accommodations for your treatment.

It’s also advisable to come to your appointment with a clean face—no makeup, especially on the brows—and to avoid caffeine on the day of your procedure. This preparation will help the process go smoothly and can contribute to achieving the best results.

Post-microblading care is critical to ensuring your microbladed brows stay in the best possible shape for the longest possible time. Our brow technicians recommend keeping the following tips in mind:

  • Avoid wetting your brows for at least 10 days following the treatment. This includes avoiding workouts that cause excessive sweating.
  • Don’t apply makeup or skincare products directly on the brows for at least a week.
  • Try not to touch the treated area, as this can cause irritation and may hinder the healing process.
  • Stay clear of direct sun exposure or tanning for a few weeks after the procedure.
  • Abstain from picking, peeling, or scratching your brows as they heal. This can cause scarring and uneven colour distribution.
  • Should any irritation or discomfort occur, apply a cool, damp cotton pad on the area. If irritation persists, contact your microblading technician or seek medical advice.

Remember, the full healing process takes about 4 weeks, depending on your body regeneration and age. It’s only after this time you can see the true colour of the microblading treatment. Touch-up treatments may also be needed for optimal results – Hair Ministry offer these for free when booked within 8 weeks.

Although both microblading and traditional tattooing work on the concept of depositing pigment into the skin, they aren’t the same.

Tattooing is ultimately a permanent treatment rarely performed on the face. It involves the use of concentrated ink deposited deep into the skin in a dense manner, creating artful images.

Microblading, on the other hand, is a type of semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing. The technique uses a blade-shaped tool with tiny needles to make hair-like strokes while depositing pigment into your skin’s upper layers. Because the pigment is applied more superficially, microblading results in a semi-permanent tattoo that tends to fade over time.

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment. In order to achieve the finest possible, most lifelike result, pigment is applied to a more superficial layer of skin, meaning that over time as a result of lifestyle factors, it will fade.

In order to maintain your results, touch-ups will be required. Our experts recommend attending a free touch-up appointment within 8 weeks of your first appointment to finalise your shape and results, before popping in when you feel your brows need a colour refresh, more density, develop any sparse areas, or need some shape fine-tuning.

Touch-ups are a perfect opportunity to ensure your brows continue to look their best. Moreover, getting touch-ups can also prolong the overall lifespan of your microbladed brows.

The decision between microblading and a brow tint comes down to your personal preference, lifestyle, and desired look.

Microblading is ideal for those looking for a more long-lasting solution, especially if you have sparse brows and want to achieve a naturally full, well-shaped look. It involves creating hair-like strokes that mimic your natural brows, lasting up to 1-3 years with proper care and touch-ups.

On the other hand, a brow tint is a temporary treatment that dyes your brow hairs to enhance, shape, and define your natural arches. It’s perfect if you already have a good amount of brow hair and want a fuller, more prominent look. Brow tinting usually lasts for 4-6 weeks.

If you’re unsure of which to go for, book in for an appointment with one of our brow artists. They’ll be happy to help you create the perfect brow look for your lifestyle and features.

Microblading is a fully bespoke process involving the a full consultation (during which your technician will discuss your brow goals, map out their shape, and sketch a suggested outline), the meticulous blending of a custom brow pigment shade to match your features, and the individual drawing of ultra-realistic, super-fine brow hairs designed to match enhance your existing ones.

For this reason, it’s one of our more long-haul treatments, taking between 2-3 hours. Your brow artist will be sure to keep you comfortable throughout this time – even offering free beverages!
