Brow Lamination FAQs

Brow lamination is a semi-permanent treatment – meaning that although it doesn’t last forever, it’s a surefire option for those seeking a low-maintenance option. It restructures the brow hairs, keeping them set in a thick, defined, and styled shape using products similar to those seen in perms. Its results typically last for between 4-6 weeks, depending on your individual hair growth cycle, your skincare routine, and how well you care for your brows post-treatment.

To maintain the brow lamination look consistently, it’s recommended to book your next appointment around the 6-week mark. To prolong the effects, avoid wetting your brows for at least 24 hours post-treatment, and try not to rub or apply harsh products on them.

Brow lamination is a professional eyebrow-shaping treatment that has seen a huge surge in popularity as of late! Think of it as a perm designed to set your brows in place, giving them a thicker, fuller, and more defined appearance for longer.

The process involves brushing the eyebrows into a desired shape and then applying a solution, similar to those used in perming, that keeps them in place. The result? Well-groomed, voluminous brows that stay in place without the need for daily styling or brow makeup.

It’s an excellent option if you’re dealing with unruly brows and gaps, or want a bolder, thicker, more uniform look.

Looking after your freshly laminated brows is a breeze, but there are a few important points to remember if you’d like to keep them in top-top shape for the longest time possible.

Firstly, keep your newly laminated brows dry for the first 24 hours after your treatment – that means no swimming, saunas, or steam rooms, and take extra care when showering.

Avoid rubbing the brow area and hold off on makeup application for at least 24 hours. If irritation does occur, a cool, damp (not wet) cotton pad can offer relief. If it continues, don’t hesitate to get in touch with your therapist, or seek medical advice if it persists.

Henna is also a no-go for the first 24-48 hours, as it may interfere with the lamination process.

If needed, you can condition your brows with a conditioning balm or simply when you shower.

Prepping your skin before brow lamination can help ensure the best possible results. Our brow artists recommend taking the following steps in the days leading up to your appointment:

Refrain from general exfoliation for 3-4 days before your treatment to avoid unnecessary skin irritation.

Avoid dermaplaning for at least a week prior to your brow lamination.

If you’re a fan of skin peels, you’ll need to pause these treatments for 4-6 weeks before your brow session.

Sunbeds and sun exposure can increase skin sensitivity, so it’s best to stay out of the sun for at least 48 hours before your appointment.

Finally, micro-needling treatments should be avoided for 2 weeks prior to your brow lamination.

Brow lamination and microblading are two very different treatments. Whilst both aim to enhance the brows, they deliver completely different finishes, and work well on different types of natural brows.

Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure with results lasting for 1-3 years. Much akin to a very fine tattoo, it created tiny hair-like lines within the brows, mimicking natural hair strokes with the aim of providing a fuller, more shapely look.

Brow lamination, on the other hand, works with your existing hair, smoothing and lifting the brows to provide a fuller and more defined appearance. It’s like a perm for your eyebrows, aligning the hairs in a specific direction for a ‘brushed up’ look that lasts around 6-8 weeks. Unlike microblading, it’s a non-invasive treatment and there’s no commitment to a long-term change in your brow appearance.

Brow lamination is perfect for those who crave fuller, more defined brows without daily grooming or long-term commitment. Whether you have sparse eyebrows longing for a thicker look, unruly hairs that resist shaping, or you simply desire a trendy, ‘brushed-up’ style, brow lamination could be the option for you.

This treatment is also ideal for those with asymmetrical brows, as the process allows for significant reshaping.

While it’s a fantastic option for many, you will need enough natural brow hair to create your desired shape. If your brows are extremely sparse, our brow experts may recommend microblading instead. Remember, a patch test is crucial to ensure you’re not allergic to the solution used.

While brow lamination is generally considered safe, it’s always best to be cautious when it comes to beauty treatments during pregnancy – especially where certain chemicals could, in rare cases, could trigger a sensitivity or allergic reaction.

At Hair Ministry, we take your safety and comfort seriously. Therefore, we recommend that pregnant individuals wait until after their pregnancy to have a brow lamination treatment. As always, if you have any concerns or queries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our expert beauty therapists. We’ll always be happy to guide and assist.

Brow lamination works in three main stages, much like a perm. First, a solution is applied to your brows, breaking down the bonds which usually make them resistant to changes in direction or shape, and delivering a blank canvas for your brow artist to work with.

Next, your brow lamination specialist will sculpt your brows into your preferred style using a brow brush. This could be a sleek, defined look or something more voluminous and fluffy – the choice is yours. During this stage, we can fill gaps, align brows and even create the illusion of a higher arch or extended tail.

Finally, a setting lotion is applied to ‘laminate’ your brows, keeping them looking polished and perfect for weeks. If desired, a tint can be applied to enhance the colour of your brows.

Brow lamination typically lasts for between 6-8 weeks, depending on your personal hair growth cycle and the level of aftercare you provide. This means that, if you’d like to constantly upkeep your fluffy brow look, the ideal time to get a brow lamination touch-up is usually around the 8-week mark.

With this said, it’s important to listen to your brows and skin. If you’ve been doing brow lamination back-to-back and have noticed any dryness or irritation, speak to your brow artist. They might recommend waiting a little longer between treatments.

On average, brow lamination services across the UK can cost anywhere between £30 to £70 depending on your chosen salon/brow artist, location, and requirements.

At Hair Ministry, we offer full brow lamination services delivered by expert brow technicians for just £54, with results lasting on average for between 6-8 months per week.
